Jiri Valoch (1946) was born and lives in Brno in The Czech Republic. He focused on
Czech studies, German, and aesthetics at Masaryk University (formerly UJEP, also
in Brno) and is now curator of the Collection of Modern and Contemporary Art at the National
Gallery in Prague. A noted concrete poet, his publication credits include:
Jiri Valoch - poesia visiva (Rome, 1975), jiri valoch: word works (West Berlin, 1984),
and JIRI VALOCH (Usti nad Labem, 1995). Some of his work was also featured in Concrete Poetry: A World View
(Indiana University Press, 1970). The story presented here originally appeared in the Czech literary bi-weekly
TVAR ("semanticke studie 2002", edice TVARy, svazek 12, 2002).
